FAQs
When and Where is the Wedding?
Our wedding is on Friday, May 27th at 3:00pm. It will take place at Na Aina Kai Botanical Gardens in Kilauea.
Where Will The Shuttle Be Picking Up and When for the Wedding Day?
Guest shuttles will start picking up at 2pm at the Westin Princeville. Please arrive 15 minutes before scheduled shuttle times, and check the Travel page for updated information as the wedding day approaches. Parking is not permitted at the venue.
What Will the Weather Be Like?
May is one of the most wonderful times to be in Kauai! Daytime temperatures are typically in the low to mid 80’s, and evening temperatures in the 70’s. Although the humidity will not have reached full summer potential, please keep this in mind for attire and your comfort!
Based on a previous hospital visit on the island (whoops!), we were reminded that not only wearing a strong sunscreen and hat was necessary, but reapplying consistently and staying hydrated throughout the day was key (we love electrolyte powders for this reason). We want you to be able to enjoy your entire vacation!
Light, passing showers are common, and what makes the island so distinctly lush. These showers are typically over by the time you even notice it is raining.
Fun fact: The 2nd wettest spot on Earth is located in the center of the island on Mt. Wai’ale’ale, with an average 450 inches of rain each year.
Will the Wedding Be Outdoors?
The ceremony and reception will both be outdoors, with the reception taking place under a tent. We recommend wearing shoes that will be easy to navigate the grass.
Can Guests take Photos During the Ceremony and Reception?
We are fully embracing an unplugged ceremony, and ask that you sit back and enjoy our wedding day alongside us. With a big heartfelt request, we ask to keep your phones and cameras tucked away while you soak in the moment with us! We will be sharing our wedding photos with you as soon as we receive them.
Can my Kids Come?
The wedding day is adults only, but children are welcome on the Sunset Cruise and Beach Day!
Please contact Childcare Kauai at (808) 635-4659 / mail@childcarekauai.com
Caitlin’s family has used this company with success for wonderful, background checked, CPR and First-Aid Certified sitters.
Why are there so many wild chickens in Kauai?
It is a common sight to see wild chickens everywhere on the island! They are the unofficial state bird of Kauai after Hurricane Iniki in 1992 destroyed chicken coops, releasing them into the wild.
